M360Y Series Smartwatch Solutions

A range of smartwatch solutions for 1.32-inch (360x360px) round screens

The 1.32-inch circular TFT color screen has a resolution of 360x360 pixels and a pixel density of 273 ppi, higher than the current majority of regular smartwatch screens. This screen started being sold on a large-scale market at the end of 2020. In addition, the cost has been kept to a lower level. Because the chip position under the screen is optimized so that the screen’s outer circle diameter appears small, the structure in the circular smartwatch is able to achieve higher space utilization, while the appearance is one of a larger screen. The M360Y Series is a range of smartwatch solutions based on The Nordic nRF 52840, Realtek 8762D, and Goodix 5515 platforms for customers with this screen.

New Rudder Navigation

In the UI design of the M360Y series smartwatch solutions, we've done a greater iteration to visually transform the entire UI. Based on the M360 series' higher definition, faster-response TFT screen, we've designed a new main navigation menu, Rudder Navigation. All icons are circled around the edge of the screen to become "rudder wheels” while the center area displays a large selected icon. By swiping your finger at the edge of the screen, you can spin the "rudder wheel" to have different function or icons selected. "Rudder navigation" has a higher playability, better visual exposure, as well as a smoother interaction experience, with a natural high degree of integration with the round watch.

3D Icon Design

For the visual design of the M360Y series smartwatch solutions, we investigated the direction the design of visual presentation was heading in the industry today. We concluded that Microsoft's new material design concept in 2019 along with Apple's macOS Big Sur system on display at WWDC in 2020 - especially the 3D icon, combined with the high-quality design concept-, is very much in line with our visual design needs for the M360Y series smartwatch solution. So we designed the main icon of the M360Y series smartwatch solution based on our own visual design needs as well as combining Microsoft and Apple's design concept. The main icon is based on MoYoung’s original sleek icon design. It is a 3D design - giving a textured visual, combining multiple lights with ambient light, and finally, high-quality rendering - finalizing the main icon design of the M360Y series smartwatch solution.

Integrated Information Structure

This version has a greater degree of iteration, so we had to think of the design from more angles. Considering the M360Y series smartwatch solution’s interactive design, we have re-integrated the original information structure, having the original functions in separate page displays. Pedometer, sleep, and motion data are combined into one page, while heart rate, blood pressure, and blood oxygen measurements are on another page. Detailed data charts can also be seen in each data’s detail page. This design allows complex data that would otherwise be divided into multiple pages to be available at a glance in just two pages, and if the user needs to view the detailed data, the in-depth detail page can also meet the user's needs. We've also removed the redundant design of the original level 1 detail page portal for motion mode, further simplifying complex pages and improving the user experience.
